Wolf Pack (Poem)

She told me to run why didn’t I believe
Before the wolves started circling

I can see them heralding bitter trees
Sizing me up and down like rotting meat

Coward’s light creeping away too fast
Fear for this candle crying so hard to last

Moreover she said to stay awake, stay alive
These recommendations haunted me over night

So often I seem to find something my pride lacks
Routinely fleeing hungry wolf packs

Window Pane (Poem)

She’s looking past shutters – beyond her pane
Blanketing the storm’s sonorous uproar
Tired eyes devouring the horizon for something
Perhaps a prince will find time, and even her

The last to still believe and muck around fairy-tales
Breathlessly hoping someday that they’ll come true
Trusting worn window to herald a true knight
Or at the very least, a champion to rescue

Hold Still Please (Poem)

are you human
or one of our machines
there’s no wrong answer
merely different ways
that we’re likely to proceed
we’re scanning bodies
for something unique
this message plays
while your data’s processing
it’s best for these tests
if you would please
hold still and try no to breathe
we really need you
to remain stationary
if it turns out you’re human
you could see your experience
may vary greatly

The Last Entry (Poem)

rocking back and forth
lying shattered on the floor

the drugs she needs
keep leaving her empty

old bottles scattered open
hungry needles forever broken

pain’s no substitute for love
so she’s writing this in blood

defeated she sinks beneath
and slowly drifts off to sleep

her message was costing too much
as warm water joins her in the tub

she’s soon lost up in the clouds
this time she won’t come down

a cherished creature joins the deep
letting her lovely arms bleed

Some battles can’t be fought alone. Sometimes we need help.
